Vajrapani Kadampa
Meditation Centre:

Vajrapani Kadampa Meditation Centre in Huddersfield welcomes anybody, non-Buddhist or Buddhist, who wishes to develop greater inner peace through meditation and Buddha’s teachings. We meet, hear talks, meditate and discuss with like-minded people and then apply what we learn to our everyday life. It is not at all necessary to have any previous experience of meditation or Buddhism to participate. This website will give you an impression of what we offer, but the only way to really find out is to attend one of our events. We hope to meet you sometime at one of them!

Our Founder:
Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

The Founder of Modern Kadampa Buddhism is Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, a world-renowned meditation master who holds the very essence of Buddha’s teachings in his heart.

Venerable Geshe-la transmits this profound wisdom and compassion to the people of the modern world in very practical ways through the extremely accessible methods of modern Kadampa Buddhism, which he introduced.

Our Tradition:
New Kadampa Tradition

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso founded the New Kadampa Tradition, the International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKTIKBU) in 1991.

It is an international association of study and meditation centers that follow the pure tradition of Mahayana Buddhism derived from the Buddhist meditators and scholars Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa and introduced into the West by the Buddhist Teacher Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

The New Kadampa Tradition is an entirely independent Buddhist tradition and the NKTIKBU has no political affiliations

The NKTIKBU is an international nonprofit organization registered in England as a charitable company.
