£6.00 per person for lunch – (please choose if you would like a vegetarian or vegan meal)

Details:

Every day we exhaust ourself searching for our happiness in external objects, outside our mind. But no matter how long or hard we search, we will never find them there. This is because happiness depends upon a peaceful mind. We can develop a peaceful mind through the practice of meditation.

Buddha taught that the mind has the power to create all pleasant and unpleasant objects. In the setting of this silent day retreat, we have a wonderful opportunity to take a break from our daily distractions, busy, unhappy minds and explore and focus on our mind’s nature of clarity, a clear empty like space.

Through gaining familiarity with this meditation, we will experience levels of inner peace, spacious clarity and stillness. Thereby discovering for ourself that we have in our own mind a reservoir of pure happiness and joy. This retreat is suitable for everyone, beginners and those with some experience of meditation.

In order to gain the maximum benefit from this silent day retreat, we would encourage you to take a break from using your mobile phones and suggest you turn them off from 9.30am-4.30pm. This will allow you to enjoy a more spacious, relaxing, calm and peaceful retreat, free from constant distractions and busy minds. In this way you will be able to feel refreshed and inspired from the retreat.

The retreat is guided by the centre’s residential teacher Gen Kelsang Varahi.
