Latest Update:
We are delighted to hear that our new Buddha statue is now in the process of being cast, you can see some images of this process below. Preparations such as sanding, guilding, filling and painting will hopefully be taking place over the summer. Gen Varahi will be able to provide us with further updates whilst she is on International Teacher Training Programme at Manjushri Centre. If you would like to help out in any way or help with the Kadampa Statue project in general, you can always apply to do some volunteering – details available on Manjushri Centre’s website.
Please keep cherishing Vajrapani Centre and making prayers and dedications for this auspicious project.
We have the good fortune to be receiving 8 foot Buddha and his lotus, as well as other new statues from the Kadampa Art Studio, similar to the beautiful and inspiring shrine and statues at KMC Leeds, below. This will bring very powerful blessings for our Centre and the local area, but we need help to make this happen.
Please join in when you can as this is a rare opportunity to contribute to the filling of Buddha statues that creates the cause for us to be filled with Dharma realisations!

The renovations of Vajrapani KMC to accommodate the new statues and shrine and upgrade the building will take place in three main stages.
STAGE 1 – will include the following:
- Strengthening the balcony and making it safe to use.
- Removal of, or tasteful covering up of the organ.
- Underfloor heating, boarding and screeding (levelling the floors).
- Electrical works both to the shrine and to support the function of the Mediation Hall and reception area.
- Re-enforcement of the floors where the shrine is to be housed creating an even surface as the floor has a few different levels.
- Replacing the carpet.
- New shrine cabinet.
- Production of a report for the West Yorkshire Archive Service, due to it being a listed building.
STAGE 2 – secondary double glazing of all windows in the meditation hall and reception room.
STAGE 3 – residential areas to be upgraded and refurbished.
The cost for the first stage of renovations is estimated at £91,043.00, plus the cost of the report for WYAS.
We will be engaging in various fundraising activities and events as move forward with these plans so look out for opportunities to get involved.
