Chanted Prayers

Chanted prayers (pujas) are an important component of training in a spiritual life. They help us to still our mind, connect with enlightened beings, and receive blessings. Our Chanted Prayers are in English, from traditional sources. Booklets are available to follow along. Please check the online calendar for up to date schedules. All pujas are free of charge. Everyone is welcome. If you have any questions about attending any of our pujas then please contact us.

Wishfulfilling Jewel

This practice is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism.

In the first part we visualize our Spiritual Guide as Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings.

This prepares our mind for a meditation on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. After the meditation we make prayers to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations.

Enlightened Being Je Tsongkhapa

Offering to the Spiritual Guide

Offering to the Spiritual Guide (OSG) is a special Guru yoga of Je Tsongkhapa in conjunction with Highest Yoga Tantra. The main practice is relying upon the Spiritual Guide, but it also includes all the essential practices of the stages of the path (Lamrim) and training the mind (Lojong), as well as both the generation and completion stages of Highest Yoga Tantra. This practice includes a tsog offering.
If you wish, you can bring a vegetarian food offering.

Melodious Drum

This extensive sadhana, or “method of attainment,” is for fulfilling our commitment to rely on the Dharma Protector and to practice Lamrim, Lojong, and Mahamudra, and for restoring any degenerate or broken commitments During this puja we make extensive offerings.

‘Having the good quality of contentment with few desires, studying profusely the scriptural tradition of the great Charioteers, with detailed analysis and focused discussion, and quoting countless scriptural citations and reasonings; through this practice may I fulfill the heart commitments of Dorje Shugdans five lineages and their retinues. Please accomplish the wishes of all practitioners and protect the pure doctrine of Je Tsongkhapa.’

Duration: 3hrs 30mins

Prayers made by an assembly of many practitioners are very powerful and cannot be compared to the prayers of one or two people. The scriptures give the analogy of a broom. If we try to clean a floor with a few bristles we shall make little progress, but if we gather many bristles to make a broom we shall be successful.
